Mark multiple emails as read at once in the Gmail app (iPhone & Android)
MIT Technology Review found that nearly 80% of Americans are reading email on their smartphones, so here's how to mark multiple emails as read on mobile.
Step-by-step Instructions

The Gmail app is a convenient way to manage your emails on your phone, and one useful feature is the ability to mark multiple emails as read at once. This can be especially helpful if you have a lot of unread emails and want to quickly clear them out. Here’s how to do it:

1. First, open the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android device.
2. Next, locate the emails that you want to mark as read. You can do this by scrolling through your inbox or by searching for specific emails using the search bar at the top of the screen. Once you’ve found the emails you want to mark as read, press the sender’s profile image next to each message. This will select the email and turn it blue, indicating that it is selected. If you want to select multiple emails at once, you can hold down the sender’s profile image and drag your finger over the other emails that you want to select. Alternatively, you can tap the sender’s profile image for each email that you want to select.
3. Once you’ve selected all of the emails that you want to mark as read, tap the “Read” icon in the top right corner of the screen. This will mark all of the selected emails as read. If you want to mark a specific email as unread, you can tap the sender’s profile image again to deselect it. Then, tap the “Read” icon again to mark the remaining emails as read.
4. When you’re finished, you can exit the Gmail app or continue browsing through your emails as usual.
By following these steps, you can quickly and easily mark multiple emails as read in the Gmail app on your iPhone or Android device. This can be a great way to quickly clear out your inbox and stay organized, especially if you receive a lot of emails on a daily basis.
